The Children out of Poverty project was started in 2004 by Antonysamy who has an M.A. in Social Studies from the Kamarajar University in Madurai. He is also fully qualified and experienced as a Family and Child Counselor. He is married to a schoolteacher and they have three children aged 18, 16 and 13.
The project addresses, in their hour of greatest need, the tragic circumstances of just a few of the poorest of the poor children living in South India. It sets out to improve their life by making it possible to be part of a ‘family’, eating regular meals, interacting at play with their friends whilst at the same time being prepared for their future life by being able to attend school – a fundamental right previously denied them.
The Fundamental rights of children have been laid down. A 'United Nations Declaration' states that the rights of Children ARE.
‘The Right to Life’
‘The Right for development’
‘The Right to be protected’
‘The Right to participate’
Children out of Poverty is a small charity in Southern India which aims to identify and help restore to a normal existence very poor children who, because of their circumstances, would otherwise never receive the basic rights of children worldwide: a stable family life, play, counselling and full-time education, as laid down by the “United Nations Declaration on the Rights of the Child”.
Many children throughout the world continue to suffer abuses of their human rights as a result of exploitative child labour, child trafficking, sexual exploitation and poverty. One man is trying to help children in his area of India and we are trying to help him.
